Project background
The Museums Discovery Centre provides open storage exhibition for the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, the Australian Museum and Sydney Living Museums.
This project involved working with the three institutions to deliver a wayfinding strategy and signage and graphics designs that will transform a warehouse facility into a memorable experience for visitors. Working with BVN Architecture the space is significantly enhanced to provide a dynamic setting for the combined collections of the three institutions.
The Citizen concept focused on the visitor experience as being behind the scenes and opening large crates to discover what is inside. This concept and materiality was then used to guide not only the design components delivered by Citizen but also the architectural palette, interventions and staging of objects.
